Why do I write?

Image: Unsplash

The first time I weaved words
It turned out to be a poem
It was by chance
That I found I could express
My emotions on paper

I wrote again
To express the unspoken
To let go off the unbearable pain
To share my insecurities
To hide my secrets
To lay bare my fears

I wrote
To cry incessantly
To laugh hysterically
To create a mystery
To pretend to be happy
To curse myself
To deny the past

I write
To introspect
To retrospect
To mend myself
To find myself
To accept the present
To feel free
To embrace myself
To dream
To help others
To share my story

I feel at peace
When I write

  1. So many reasons to write. I was just telling a friend who was speaking about writing when she gets the chance or has the time. I told that I write when I can’t NOT write, when the inspiration comes so strongly that I have to drop everything and write, whether it’s daytime of the middle of the night!

    1. I know right! There are times when I can’t sleep coz of overflow of thoughts that I need to pen down because I know they will vanish if I wait till the morning
