Writing outside my comfort zone – Blogging Insight #25

Do you ever ‘stretch’ i.e. expand your horizons by writing outside your comfort zone? If not, why?

Randomness Inked is my personal safe space. Here, I can be myself. So most of my posts are in my comfort zone only. I so experiment with writing styles sometimes. But that is only when I feel that I will find it interesting.

I began this blog with poems, and now I have moved on to write longer posts, letters, and several other things.

Dr Tanya’s Blogging Insights series is one of those writing out of the comfort zone writing. I never wanted my blog to become a course. I am no teacher of blogging. But the questions in the series are interactive and allow my to share my blogging experience. That’s why I have stuck with it for so long.

I once tried attempting a writing prompt which asked to write a piece in 99 words and then cut it down to 59 and then to 9 words. Finally stretch back to 99 words again. This exercise was something that I faced difficulties with but it ended up being a lovely piece.

Have you tried writing out of your comfort zone? If you have, do share the link to that post. I would love to read it.

    1. LOL! I think you’re pretty much comfortable in all types of writing styles. Don’t really think there is something that would be outside your comfort zone 😛

      1. Oh I had no idea how to write poems when I started…But I ended up writing in free verse…didn’t really follow any rules…just went with my heart 🙂

    1. What? :O I refuse to believe it 😛
So you were like always writing personal experiences? Were poems a part of the fiction for you?

      1. Not really. I started writing my first batch of tiny tales in 2017. I used to poems but very rarely. You should drop by and check out the archives to see how my blog looked in 2014, 15 and 16. 😂
I was a totally different person back then.. My blog too. 🤭
I was writing about personal opinions and experiences.

      2. We grow sometimes. My blog has the complete opposite story. I was writing more of poetry when I began and now I write more about my personal experiences 😀

Yeah, many things sound out of comfort zone but sometimes they end up being something we enjoy trying 🙂
