What makes you smile?

Sharing an excerpt from yesterday’s thoughts:
I was really happyyyy today. I don’t know why. Maybe because I slept peacefully last night. Maybe because I heard some soothing flute music first thing in the morning (Yeah, I know I’m not a music person but it sounds beautiful. But trust me I can’t listen it for hours. I have been there, totally not my thingy). Maybe because I wrote that scene today (It just switched on on my creative thinking. It was too deep. I really felt it all). Maybe because a story, that I hadn’t expected to work, worked. Maybe because I ate that delicious cake. Maybe because it was Mumma’s bday. Maybe I just wanted to be happy. And didn’t really need a reason to be happy.

I do believe that one should not need reasons to smile. You should smile just like that.

Feeling happy does make me feel beautiful. Happy is beautiful.

Ever passed a smile to a stranger you see walking on the road? I know it sounds crazy. Years back, when I was in school, an uncle used to cross my path every morning. He used to wish me ‘good morning’. I didn’t know him. The shy me ignored him on the first day.

On the second day, I passed a smile out of courtesy. I thought he might be knowing my parents. It continued for almost a year. After that, school got over. I stopped taking that path.

Years later, I saw him one day. He probably didn’t recognise me. I had grown up. But I recognised him. Mumma was with me. I asked her if she knew him. She didn’t. He was a stranger. He had forgotten me, yet I passed him a smile. I did miss his greeting.

      1. I like all different kinds of music, rock, pop, country, r and b, dance…My playlists will give people brain bleeds, they are so diverse.
I was just thinking of your question, what makes me happy and for me happy is when my brain chemicals feel good…and music kind of does that for me, it gets me ‘high’ so I feel energized and happy.
This week’s music share wasn’t even metal, it was a rather mellow song by Moby, for the record. It’s one of my sleepytime soothing mix songs.
Music seems to cause the release the good brain chemicals for me, no sure why. I’ll take good brain chemicals any day with or without explanation.
