Dear Zindagi/ Dear Life

Dear Zindagi

Aaj socha humne
Thodi guftagoo tumse ki jaaye
Kaisi ho tum?
Socha puch liya jaaye
Bahut samay hua
Baat-cheet hum
Tumse nahi kar paaye

Aaj ek baar fir
‘Zinda hain’
Yehi bolenge hum tumhe
Lekin is baar
Ek sukoon ka hai ehsaas
Sirf nazron mein nahi
Balki dil ke
Kisi kone me bhi

Nibhana sath tum humara
Hasi-thitholi rakhna tum jaari
Bhoolna mat aansu ponchna humare
Nibhaaogi na sath humara?

Tumhari Dost

Translation in English

Dear Life

Today I thought
I’ll have a conversation with you
I thought I should ask you
How are you?
It’s been a long time
Since we didn’t talk

Today, once again
I’ll tell you that
‘I’m alive’
But this time
There’s a feeling of relief
Not only in my eyes
But also in a corner
Of my heart

Stay by my side
Keep the fun conversations on
Don’t forget to wipe my tears
You’ll stay by my side, won’t you?

Your Friend

    1. I always add the english translations to my hindi poems because I know most of my readers won’t understand it.
But trust me, the english version never does justice to the hindi version. Hindi has feels! ❤

  1. This is beautiful Saumya, thoroughly enjoyed the depth of your words. It reminded me of a lovely short passage from one of my favourite films, a classic…can you guess it..

“zindagi to bewafa hai ek din thukrayegi

maut mehbooba hai apne saath lekar jayegi”

“Life is a traitor it will discard you one day,

Death is your lover who will take you with her”.
