Where and how do you see your blog in 2020?
Okay, that’s really a difficult question. To be honest, I really don’t know. I just want to write more and more. I want to let my creative juices work as much as they can. Most importantly, I don’t want to force blogging on me. I want it to be an escape for me, not a prison. And If I am not able to write more– I had the plan of blogging every day for the month of Jan and my motivation was Linda’s JusJoJan, but I have already skipped two days in the last week and thus– I will definitely try to engage with other bloggers, especially by discovering more of them.
Are you going to make any significant changes?
No changes in content as such. Just random things, as usual.
To the layout, I may as I am always exploring new themes and features that they have to offer. I recently tried making my homepage look more reader friendly. Check it out here.
In your opinion how relevant or popular are text based blogs (as opposed to vlogs) going to be in 2020?
I find that video logs or vlogs are getting more and more attention everyday. The value of written word seems to be degrading. But I know there are people out there, like you and me, who will still prefer the written word more.
What about you? Where do you see your blog in 2020? Are you planning to make a regular blogging schedule? Or planning to skip it this time? Do you have some new announcements to make?
Feel free to share your answers on this post in the comments section or make your own post, but do pingback to this post to notify me.
In response to Dr Tanya’s Blogging Insights #12 – Your Blog in 2020, JusJoJan
I didn’t blog consitently last year. In fact, I was inactive for over six months, and while this dealt a mighty blow to my blog, I felt like I could use the break. I needed it badly.
Now that I’ve put my life in order (I hope) and resumed blogging, I can’t say that I’m enjoying the experience. My engagement is a far cry from the way it was early last year. Not that I was expecting otherwise, but it hurts, you know? Plus it can be very discouraging.
I don’t know if my blog will garner any significant amount of engagement this year, but I promise to keep trying. I hope this year brings you success in your blogging career, Saumya. 🌻

I also didn’t blog consistently last year, Obinna. I felt it when you said that it hurts when you lose on the engagement. But don’t let that discourage you. You know that you needed that break, so it’s okay.
Try engaging with your old readers, discover new blogs. Maybe make a schedule for yourself?
Finding new blogs, promotion of my blog on other blogger’s pages, writing challenges are some of the things thatbhave helped me increase the engagement.
Good luck to you. Feel free to reach out in case you need any help.
Keep writing!

Obi, I know it can be discouraging to see your stats plummet, but I implore you to do you. Your posts are always on point and chatting with you in the comment section is always a pleasure. I learn so much. If you simply put in the effort, I do not see a reason why your engagement wouldn’t pick back up. Stay golden!

You always know the right thing to say, Goldie. Thank you for the encouraging words. It’s always a pleasure chatting with you too.
I’ll put in the required effort; I’ve come way too far to have doubts now.

I blog whenever the inspiration strikes. The key is to keep on blogging so it becomes a part of what you do daily.

I second that. Being regular is important

2019 was busy for me in terms of blogging. I posted A LOT, at least by my standards. I enjoyed it, but am not sure if I’ll be able to maintain it this year. I definitely want to write more outside of blogging, which requires time. Time is hard to come by these days. But I don’t want to miss out on all the conversations with other bloggers, so I will have to see how it goes.

There’s so much that we want to do. But there’s so little time.
I also want to write out of blogging, but then I don’t really know when I would get time for that.

I’d recommend writing down what you do during the day during what times and see if there are maybe breaks in between. Or maybe you’re doing something that is less important to you than writing. Or maybe you can incorporate something into writing. For me, relaxing/resetting my brain is very important at the end of the day. Weirdly enough, I found writing to fit that bill. So I’m watching fewer TV shows (almost none) and browsing the web.

Should I do break it up hour wise? But the routine is not constant evrry day. I’ve got different shifts throughout the week.

Yes, I think breaking up hour wise is useful. My days seemed very full (they are!), but once I wrote it all down, I discovered some lulls.
If you have different shifts, then I think writing it out is even more important. It would help you to keep things structured and remind you of the things you should do next.

I think I should try it. I’m a very organised person when it comes to keeping things and reaching places on time. Yet I feel I waste all the time. I should fill the loops.

That’s what I’ve noticed with myself, so I can only hope that it helps you somehow. I’d be curious to know if it did at all.

Yes, I’ll probably sit down tonight to work it out. Only if I don’t end up wasting my time 😂
