Closure

The seventeen year old me never forgave you

She never will, I know

She was an innocent child

However, the present me forgave you

Not today, not yesterday

But a long time back

She forgave you

For the false promises that you made

For the dreams that you made her see

For the unspoken relation you had with her

She knows that you don’t need her forgiveness

Yet she forgave you

Not for you, but for herself

To give a closure to her ‘us’ that you failed to address

So that she could move ahead

So that she could love herself the way she had loved you
