A new theme

I love to explore new themes, customise them, try out different layouts and widgets every now and then. Always looking for something better. To tell you the truth, I changed the blog’s theme thrice in the past one week.

I chose Canard a few months back especially because it gave me the option of having menus at four different locations. But few days back, I got bored of the layout. While trying new themes, I realised that none of the ones I tried suited me. Since I desperately wanted to switch from Canard, I chose Gateway (I had used it earlier).

When I discovered a new blog yesterday, I really liked its Penscratch 2 theme. I gave it a try and liked it. And today, I happened to try my hands on the current theme Ixion. The first thing that has to be on point is obviously the visual layout of the theme. But what attracted me to this theme are its features.

Changing the theme gives a freshness to the blog or it steals the identity- what do you think? What do you look for when selecting your blog’s theme?

Do take a look around the blog and tell me how do you find the new look. I’m waiting for your feedback! 🙂

  1. First off, I look for what’s available in the free themes, I don’t have the budget to pay extra for stuff. Next, that I can work with the layout. Finally, do all my widgets and plugins work with the theme? That’s about it. I’m not very tech savvy, maybe the very last thing is that it also looks nice.

  2. I’ve taken a view of your theme and it looks good.
I think changing theme too frequently is not good for blog .Change is good but after a specific time.
Best wishes 🙂 Have a great journey ahead .

    1. Thankyou. Yeah changing frequently isn’t a good idea. But I think I’m going to settle with this theme for now. I really like it. 🙂

  3. I’m a fan of tradition in a lot of ways, so changing themes too often would make things chaotic for me. However, the main reason why I don’t change mine, is because I’ve gone through all of them at one (or two) point, and none of them came close to what I needed. I’d love to be able to design my own, but since I’m limited to the free themes, I take what I can get.

As far as this theme of yours is concerned, I like it. Particularly “Reader Favorites”. Does this populate automatically, or do you compose that list on your own?

    1. Wow! Checked out all the themes? I haven’t yet. Each time a visit a theme, I find some new feature that I didn’t discover earlier 😀 Yeah! I’d also love to design my theme or atleast make one by taking something or the other some each of the available themes 😛
The readers favs- It’s a widget which shows most popular (on the basis of likes or views) posts and pages.

      1. Yes, all, but I haven’t applied all of them, I just look at the preview, and read the features. That’s how I weed out most of them. I narrow it down to top 30, and then try.
        Definitely a great widget idea.

      2. It’s a good idea to select top 30 and then narrow down further. But it’s a very time consuming task which I don’t think I’d want to do any time soon 😀
Yeah. In fact I got the widget idea after viewing another blogger’s page 😉

  4. I like the streamlined look of your new site but I don’t see all the links to your other pages like you had before? You had poetry, the word challenge and other writings that were in specific sections. Are they still here on your new site?

      2. I haven’t yet but I’m using them as images for posts for now. I started an Instagram just for my paintings and might try seeing how to link it to my WordPress blog. Thanks for being interested in my paintings Saumya! It means a lot. 😊💕

      3. Wow! That’s really a good idea. You can just add a widget of instagram on your blog and display it in the footer or in the sidebar. Also, you can add a link to your instagram page in the menu (I have also a link of Gallery in my menu to link my photographs).

      4. Yes. It allows you to display a maximum of 20 pics from your insta feed. Btw what’s your insta handle? Would love to check out the paintings if there are any that you haven’t shared here 🙈🙈

  5. I like to change my theme when I feel like my blog is getting stale. I actually just changed my this weekend and I was looking for something free because I’m broke lol, and something that looks good. I actually don’t tend to care for themes that look too busy. Yours looks wonderful!
